Qualifies for The Boston Marathon® Charity Program!
Newton’s Own Boys & Girls Club is One of Thirty Official Charities Selected by the Boston Athletic Association!
The John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton has been selected as one of the thirty charities to benefit from the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) Official Charity Program in 2012, 2013 and 2014!
For three years, the Boys & Girls Club of Newton will participate in this esteemed program. As part of the program, each year a select fifteen runners will represent the Boys & Girls Club of Newton, each encouraged to raise $5,000 towards the overall fundraising goal of $250,000 and then run The Boston Marathon.

The Club has an application and interview process, with running
times as only part of the equation. A genuine affinity for the
organization, ambassadorship, and commitment to helping youth and
B.A.A.‘s shared mission to promote fitness through athletics will
also be considered.
Applications are only for athletes who are capable of running a
marathon in less than six hours and additionally agree to meet the
minimum fundraising requirement of $4,000. The Boys & Girls Club’s
goal for each runner is $5,000.

Funds raised through the B.A.A. Boston Marathon Charity Program will help provide quality educational programs and athletic activities for Club members so that they are equipped with the crucial skills needed to become healthy, fit and successful adults.
The 116th Boston Marathon® will be held on Patriots’ Day, April 16, 2012.
