2021 new Winter Schedule.png

Greetings to the 2023-2024 Winter Basketball Season at the John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton! Our highly anticipated Annual Winter Basketball season is on the horizon, and we're buzzing with enthusiasm as we prepare to welcome both familiar faces and new additions to our basketball family. Building on the success of last year's Winter Basketball Season, we are eagerly anticipating the progress our players have made during the offseason, further honing their skills.

In the upcoming season, our dedicated coaches will inspire every player to not only elevate their basketball abilities but also cultivate essential teamwork skills. Our coaching philosophy centers around fostering a tight-knit team community built on the values of Respect, Reliability, and Responsibility, all while striving for championship glory. This season is all about the dual emphasis on skill refinement and character development.

We are deeply appreciative of the continued opportunity to positively influence the youth of Newton, both on and off the court. Thank you for being a part of our journey!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.

The season will end with playoffs amongst all teams. Games will be played 5 on 5.

GRADE 6-8

The Junior League is designed to help players prepare for a higher level of competition. We will introduce team concepts such as zone defense, team defense, motion offense and proper floor spacing. All games will be played on Fridays from 6pm-8pm. This league will focus on creating a winning environment. Holding players accountable will be at a league high. Missing games or practices without giving notice to coaches may lead to less playing time. Will play a regular 5v5 format.
